A Family Spring Break Guide to Overland Park
Looking for some fun things to do with your kiddos as Spring Break approaches?
There are lots of great option for children of all ages in Overland Park, so I’ve broken some things down by age group for you and you family to check out!
Ages 4-6:
Museum at Prairiefire
The Museum at Prairiefire is a great place to check out, but especially fun for any of your dino-loving kids!
Not only can you see a dinosaur skeleton as soon as you step inside, but you can also see them fly over your head or stomp past you on the screen in the lobby. Along with that there’s a Discovery Room and Virtual Reality room available to check out and really top off your visit!
Strang Park
Strang Park is an all-inclusive playground with gaming areas, historical markers and more. One of the best things about Strang Park is that it’s also been newly renovated so it’s a great spot to get outside and enjoy a day of free fun with your family this Spring Break.
Pop Culture & Walking to Thompson Park (Downtown Overland Park)
Are your little ones crazy for crazy-flavored treats?
Start your family day at Pop Culture for some unique flavored popcorn or ice cream and then enjoy your snacks on a walk to Thompson Park for some outdoor fun.
Looking for more? You can also take your young ones for some fun at Urban Air, KidScape in Johnson County Museum, or even check out the ferris wheel and aquarium in Scheels.
Ages 7-10:
Pinstripes
Pinstripes not only has fun family competition options like bowling and bocce, but they also have a fantastic brunch buffet on Sundays.
Would you rather head to Pinstripes on a weekday? Either way, the food they offer to enjoy before, after or even during your fun is guaranteed to be delicious.
Chicken N Pickle
Chicken N Pickle is one of my all time favorite spots to enjoy the incoming Spring weather and have fun with the kiddos.
Not only do they offer great food and lots of fun on the pickleball courts, but they have other games to enjoy too. Your kids can have fun with shuffleboard, bocce, life-size battleship, giant jenga, cornhole or even just enjoy some turf time with a jump rope or hula-hoop!
Cardboard Corner Cafe
Weather not cooperating to get outside for Spring break this year? There’s still fun to be had indoors as Cardboard Corner Cafe!
Cardboard Corner Cafe offers a selection of over 800 free board games to play while you enjoy a drink off their coffee and cocktail menu. If it’s a snack you’re after, they also offer a variety of waffles including chicken and even pizza waffles.
Looking for more? You can also take your middle-aged kiddos for some fun at iFly or even OP Arboretum and Botanical Gardens for a nature walk!
Ages 11-18:
Indian Creek Bike and Hike Trail
Get those older ones off their phones and outdoors to soak up some fun and burn some energy!
Whether you want to walk, bike or run - Indian Creek Trail is a great way to enjoy the incoming Spring weather and soak up some Vitamin D together as a family.
TopGolf
TopGolf is such an enjoyable spot for the older kids in your life. Looking to for some friendly family competition? TopGolf is the place for you!
Sip & Snack on some delicious menu items while competing in a variety of golf games with your family. Weather looking a little chilly on your day? That’s okay because TopGolf has heaters distributed throughout their bays.
Shopping and Brunch at Hawthorne Plaza
Start your day off with the amazing pancake flight or any other fantastic menu item to select from at Urban Egg. Once you’ve fueled up for the day, take another chance to soak up the Spring weather by getting some outdoor shopping done around the other locations in Hawthorne Plaza.
Looking for more? You can also take those older kids for some shopping at Oak Park Mall or explore the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.
